Alpine Road
It feels like I had just re-acclimatised to being back in Paris, when after only a few short weeks, we whisked ourselves away to the Alps. While I didn’t really need the change of pace, it has been wonderful all the same (and Hugo was over-due for a visit with his French grandparents). My packing was less than stellar, and now that I have only half the space of my suitcase to work with (babies need lots of stuff) I packed anything that had long sleeves or could keep the cold at bay. It’s when packing to come here that I realise just how much I favour jackets in place of sweaters (I think I own about three sweaters and they are not looking so healthy these days). And that most of my shoes have no place (even if there was space in the suitcase) on this mountainous terrain.
Tucked away in these mountains at 1500 metres altitude, there is probably no place better to feel away from the rest of the world, (aside from the fact we are in the height of the ski season and therefore this otherwise remote mountain hideaway is abuzz with visitors from all over keen to pelt down the slopes). While I miss the convenience of a wide range of stores just on my doorstep, I couldn’t ask for cleaner air, or place to step away from the little annoyances that come from living in a crowded city.
* Please excuse the similarity of this outfit to a recent post. I find that while the main pieces are similar, the different colours, and cuts, give the two outfits a totally different feel.
